Teams will explore the impact of EI on their own LEAD team effectiveness.
Each week, students will be assigned to read an article related to leadership, followership, or other related topics. No written summary is required to be turned in. However, the principle points made in these articles will serve as the framework for the evaluation of the team members’ EI results as these inform the group about their success, or lack of success, completing team projects during the LEAD Program. Teams are expected to hold out-of-class discussions on each reading, considering the highlights of each article, and identifying three or four points from each to include in the final project deliverable.
In Class Six, teams will submit a document and presentation for grading.
The submission should address the following topics. Each heading MUST be included in the submission.
a. What are the key differences in EI results across the team members?
b. What are the key similarities in EI results across the team members?
c. Referencing the articles, why does the team believe these are the key differences?
d. Referencing the articles, how have these differences and similarities impacted team performance during the LEAD Program? Be specific.
Which had a negative impact? Which had a positive impact? Apply source material to explain the impact.
e. Assume the team is scheduled to continue for 12 more months. Referencing the articles, develop an action plan to improve team performance as this applies to EI and leadership. Be specific. Detail how each action is SMART - specific, measurable, reasonably attainable, relevant to EI, leadership and team success, and timely. Detail which actions are designed to address which issue(s).
f. Reflecting back to the first night of graduate school at ODU, what would the team do differently in terms of developing a successful LEAD project team? Why? Support your answer with source material.
The project document should meet all requirements of the Written Work Expectations and be a minimum of 10 pages in length.
